Common questions
- How much does GameLynx cost?
- GameLynx is free to download and free to use — finding matches, messaging and sending round invitations are all included. There is one optional in-app purchase of $2.99 that removes ads permanently.
- Do I need an official handicap to join?
- No. You can enter an average score instead, or skip it entirely and add rounds later. GameLynx uses whatever you provide to find players at a similar level, and your handicap index updates automatically as you log rounds.
- Can other golfers see exactly where I am?
- No. Locations shown to other members are deliberately randomised, so the map gives a sense of who is in your area without revealing anyone’s address. Only you ever see your own precise location.
- How does the matching actually work?
- Each potential partner is scored on how closely their game matches yours — handicap index, average score, preferred pace, walking versus riding, simulator and music preferences — combined with how far away they are and whether they are available when you want to play. Results are ranked best-first with a match percentage so you can see why someone was suggested.
- Does it work for golf simulators and indoor play?
- Yes. Switch the app to indoor mode and you will be matched with players looking for simulator sessions rather than a round on grass, which is useful in winter or for shorter after-work sessions.
- Can I use GameLynx when I travel?
- Yes. Save a trip with your destination and dates, and GameLynx shows you members near that destination so you can arrange a game before you arrive.
- Which devices does GameLynx support?
- GameLynx is being built for both iPhone and Android. Join the early access list and we will email you the moment it is available on your platform.
- How do I delete my account and data?
- Open Settings and choose Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, personal details, saved location and trips, and signs you out on every device.
Reporting someone
In the app, long-press any message to flag it, or use the Report button at the top of a conversation. Reports go to a moderation queue reviewed by our team. If you feel unsafe, contact your local emergency services first.
Billing
GameLynx is free. The optional $2.99 Remove Ads purchase is handled by the App Store or Google Play, so refunds are processed by them. Use Restore Purchases in Settings if you have reinstalled the app or moved to a new device.
